Ways for Kids to Make Money

Ways For Kids to Make Money

When I was a kid, around 10 years old, I wanted to find ways to make money. All I wanted was $40-50 a month in spending money.

I didnt get an allowance like the other kids in my school. My family was dirt poor or pretty close to it. My Dad was a housekeeper and my mother was a housewife.

I had to wear these flea market t-shirts to school and old shoes with holes in it. When it rains my socks would be soaked, and I hated that.

So, heres the question, what are some ways for kids to make money?

Here are some ways I tried using to make money as a kid:

  1. Get really good at checkers or chess and play with other kids for $0.25 cents a game. The thing is I was so good that I never lost a game and pretty soon no one wanted to play.

  2. After school when everyone was gone I would walk around in circles staring at the ground near the monkey bars/playground, I found out that since a lot of other kids would be climbing and hanging upside down there were a lot of coins stuck in the sand or under the grass. Sometimes Id find $1-1.50 a day in coins.

  3. My aunts used to live in the same apartment building as my family when I was a kid and they were lazy so I found out how to make some money off of them.

They would want chicken wings or some grocery item and not want to walk the 4 blocks there or drive there so I volunteered to go get it for them.

They would hand me $5 for the chicken wings and I would bring it back, then they would give me $2. Hey, the places were close by and its all extra money.

  4. Another way I would make money a few days during the summer months is during recess Id have my mother bring Popsicles during recess or lunch break and sell it to other kids with money. It was a hot seller!

I would sell all 20-25 Popsicles for a $1.50 each. And you can get them really cheaply in Costco or Sams club. You can get it for $4-5 for 12 or 15 in a box. Or you can use fruitbars, ice cream bars, etc. Tell her to bring the whole box, looks more professional then just grabbing a few in her hand.

  5. Oh, I used to sell candy too. Ive seen a lot of older kids selling fundraising candy and I decided to sell my own candy that I would buy at Costco or a grocery store.

The individually wrapped packages that come in a bag. I would sell each one for $0.50 cents to elementary kids, I was in elementary too and no competition from older kids.

  6. Another thing I did was during the school year the school has these scholastic book clubs etc. and you can order all kinds of cool stuff. At the time, stickers were a hot item.

Most kids didnt know to order it off scholastic and that the package came with 200 stickers etc. for only $3-4 bucks. Well, I spotted it and my mind instantly came up with moneymaker. So I ordered it and began selling it during class with a scribbled piece of paper. It said, Stickers, stickers, all kinds of stickers. Over 200, pick one for 25 cents. Come see me. Then sign it. I got bombarded with orders. I sold half of my package of stickers in less than a week. But I got busted by the teachers for passing around notes in class.

You should use your head. Im sure youll come up with a lot of ways to make money. Being a kid doesnt matter. Well, it does. It means youll need less money to buy the things you want compared to an adult. After all, those $1 bills really add up.
