Making money in the age of Northrend

The Mote extractor remains the Engineer’s unique resource extraction tool, and so remains a source of revenue for the engineer in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion.

End-game level guns remain a source of wealth. Engineer-crafted ammunition remains the best available, and with a guild one can acquire a set of steady customers. (Auction house sales still remain viable at the top end.)

Surprisingly, pets make a come-back as a source of income due to the pet collection achievements. While there was an early market for the motorcycle mounts (among the most wealthy on each server), this market dries up quickly. The remaining people seeking them will generally have a guild member who can craft it for them (given sufficient resources) by the time they can afford it. On the other hand, with level progression available to 80, fewer engineers are gaining the Consortium reputation required for Elemental Seaforium Charges, expanding the market for those who have the recipe. Typically, though, this will be a ‘tips’ market, as the engineer seeking parts for her flying machine will be able to provide all the parts for the charges.

A slight resurgence of quest-required items can be expected as people go back through low level quests while working on their Loremaster achievement.

The Mote Extractor

Perhaps the single most useful item for engineers is the Zapthrottle Mote Extractor. With the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, several regions in Northrend have clouds containing Crystallized Air, Crystallized Water, and/or Crystallized Fire. When combined with a flying mount extracting these clouds for resources becomes practical.

Note that there are clouds of Motes in several regions of Outland as well. Market for those, though, is largely for players practicing their trade skills; end-game materials has moved on to the crystallized materials.

Guns, Scopes, and ammunition

As in times past, there is a market for end-game guns. There exists both a warrior-tank gun (the Armor Plated Combat Shotgun) and a hunter weapon (Nesingwary 4000).

There is an indifferent market for high end ammunition. The majority of hunters will have some member of their guild who can craft the ammunition devices at low rates. And warriors do not typically buy ammunition in large amounts. The greatest demand, then, is from hunters preparing for raids who do not have the time to ask a guild member to create a box for them.

At the lower ends, demand is variable. As the average level on the server goes up, the cost of lower level materials increases, and the number of lower level characters for whom the ammunition would be useful declines. Between these forces, custom made ammunition for hunters remains a specialty market (for when “cost is no object”).

While there is some market for scopes, the speed of leveling means that scopes are often overlooked until quite late. And once a hunter has his ultimate weapon, he will typically only need a single scope.

Pets and mounts

With achievements for the number of companions one has collected, engineered pets are much more in demand. The Lifelike Mechanical Toad is a particularly rare recipe, and the pets created with it can bring a premium from hardcore pet collectors.

Small pets

  • [Mechanical Squirrel Box]
  • [Lil' Smoky]
  • [Pet Bombling]
  • [Lifelike Mechanical Toad]
  • [Tranquil Mechanical Yeti]

At skill of 450, and with exalted reputation with the respective faction, engineers can craft a mount:

  • [Mechano-hog]
  • [Mekgineer's Chopper]

The mounts are race-restricted however. Engineers may charge a hefty fee to craft one of these mounts, or sell the pre-assembled item for a fixed fee.

Engineers can make flying mounts too:

  • [Flying Machine Control] 150% speed increase
  • [Turbo-Charged Flying Machine Control] 280% speed increase

Tradeskill Items

While these items are not required for end-game content, Engineers are still the sole source of them.

Professions

  • Alchemy: [Recipe: Goblin Rocket Fuel]
  • Blacksmithing: [Plans: Inlaid Mithril Cylinder]
  • Leatherworking: [Salt Shaker]
  • Fishing: [Aquadynamic Fish Attractor]

With the fishing daily quests providing Sharpened Fish Hooks, the Aquadynamic Fish Attractor has a smaller market.

Lock Opening

Using Seaforium Charges you can open locked boxes. Just like a rogue, usually you do it for a fee or tip.

Mailbox or vendor

Occasionally a player may need a mailbox or vendor in an out-of-the-way place and will pay a small fee for you to use [MOLL-E] or [Jeeves]. Places where it may be required as there are no such facilities nearby: in a raid or dungeon, Darkmoon Faire at the opposite faction’s zone, items for large turn-ins of rep such as Ravenholdt which may be stored in the mailbox.

Everyman Items

These items do not require a skill to use or equip. The majority of them are in low demand, though.

Hunter – The RuneScape Wiki

From the RuneScape Wiki, the wiki for all things RuneScape This article is about the hunter skill. For information on training hunter, see hunter training. Hunter was one of the Featured articles, but it has been removed from the list. There are suggestions below for improving the article to meet the Featured article criteria. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.
Reason: Needs history section

Hunter is a members-only skill that allows players to catch animals all over RuneScape. Hunter was released on 21 November 2006. Although Hunter is a non-combat skill, players can still be damaged while hunting. Using hunting equipment bought from hunter stores, players can hunt specific creatures, obtaining such rewards as bones, butterflies, animal furs, etc. Only two Hunter stores exist: one in Yanille; another one in Nardah. The current minimum requirement to be ranked (at approximately rank 1,007,043) on the hiscores for Hunter is level 30. As of 30 June 2010, there are 18,242 players that have achieved level 99 in Hunter.

Leon inside the Hunter shop in Yanille sells a Hunter’s crossbow for 1,300 coins and makes bolts for a small fee.

  • 6 Kebbit bolts costs a spike (Prickly Kebbit) and 20 coins.
  • 6 Long bolts costs a long spike (Razor-backed Kebbit) and 40 coins.

Note that you can make your own bolts by using a chisel on a kebbit spike. The Hunter’s crossbow is a fast crossbow (as fast as any shortbow) requiring 50 Ranged to wield.

[edit] Fancy Dress Shop

You receive many types of fur while hunting and all of these may be traded in at the fancy-dress shop in south-east Varrock for different types of hunter gear. The costume maker requires a few coins to make sets of hunter gear as well.

Select Talk-to Fancy Dress Shop Owner, then select the option that includes hunting, which depends whether the player has fur in their inventory, “Could you make anything out of this fur that I got from hunting?” or “Can you make clothing suitable for hunting?”

The kebbit, weasel and devil gear is what makes camouflage clothing. Kyatt, Graahk and Larupia are an improved form of camouflage for the area(s) the clothing’s fur came from. Wearing camouflage improves your chances of capturing your prey.

Prices for the clothes range from 20 to 200 coins. You need 2 furs per cape made, and 3 furs for every item of camouflage clothing made.

[edit] Other rewards

Other rewards include coloured feathers, spikes for vambraces and bolts, wieldable harpoons, ingredients for Hunter potions, creature ranged weapons, and butterflies which raise other players’ combat bonuses.

[edit] Hunter areas

Hunter areas are places where players can hunt. Most of the hunter areas, including the hunter shops, are close to a Fairy ring. The central ring in Zanaris is close to a bank which can be used to deposit rewards. Other methods of transportation are listed below.

After completing the Eagles’ Peak quest, a player can use the Eagle transport system to fly an eagle from Eagles’ Peak in the woodland area to 3 of the other training areas: snow, jungle and desert.

Hunter locations Area type Prey level Hunter guide Knowledge Base name Fairy ring Training areas

There are five main training areas with many creatures to hunt. The training areas also allow a player to use many Hunter trapping methods: tracking, netting, box trapping, snaring and pit-falling.

[edit] Jungle

The Feldip Hunter area is located in the southern-most part of the Feldip Hills. Players may trap Crimson Swifts here as well as Tropical Wagtails, Feldip Weasels, Spined Larupias, Barb-tailed Kebbits and Carnivorous Chinchompas. The area can be reached by walking from Yanille (Watchtower teleport) or from Castle Wars bank (Ring of duelling teleport). A good method to get to the area is using the Fairy ring transportation system. From Zanaris, use the code AKS. Also, gnome gliders bring players just north of the hunting area after completing One Small Favour, or with level 10 Magic you can use the Mobilising Armies Teleport and walk north. Alternatively, a Spirit Tree is located just north of Mobilising Armies; players can teleport there using other Spirit Trees and then walk north.

[edit] Snow

The Trollweiss Hunter area is located north of Rellekka. A hunter’s targets here are Polar kebbits, Cerulean twitches, Sapphire glacialis, Snowy knights, Sabre-toothed kebbits, and Sabre-toothed kyatts. A method to get to the area is using the Fairy ring transportation system. From the central Fairy ring use code DKS and go north to the hunter area. Walking from Rellekka also is a good option as there are several teleports to Rellekka.

Hunting Polar Kebbits here for Polar Kebbit fur is a great way to make money. Burying the bones and dropping the meat can save inventory space for the fur. A Polar Kebbit fur sells for around 4,000 gp on the Grand Exchange, meaning a full inventory of the fur is worth about 112,000 gp. The closest bank is in Keldagrim, or Peer the Seer during The Fremennik Trials (or before/after with Fremennik Sea Boots), or Zanaris if the player uses the nearby fairy ring.

[edit] Woodland

The Piscatoris Hunter area area is located northwest of the Tree Gnome Stronghold. It is a long walk from the entrance of the Stronghold. The northern part of the area is close to the Piscatoris region, so to shorten the trip you may want to take the boat east of the Eagles’ Peak. This hunter region also can be conveniently reached using the Fairy ring transport system with access code AKQ. You can also interact and teleport with a spirit kyatt near to the Piscatoris Hunter area.

[edit] Desert

The Uzer Hunter area is located west of the Ruins of Uzer and north of Nardah. It can be reached by walking from the Al Kharid Bank to Shantay Pass, then walking southeast to the bridge across the River Elid. The hunter area is east of the bridge and allows hunters to prey on Golden Warblers, Desert Devils, and Orange Salamanders. There are several alternative access methods such as the Fairy ring teleport with code DLQ, a Pharaoh’s sceptre teleport and the Flying Carpet transport system. Bring desert robes, a knife, and either waterskins or an Enchanted water tiara to survive in the desert.

[edit] Puro-Puro

Puro-Puro, the homeland of the Imps and Implings, can be accessed by entering the centre of a crop circle. These crop circles appear randomly across all wheat fields in RuneScape. The only permanent one is located in the centre of the Zanaris wheat field. Those who have completed the Lost City quest and are wielding either a Dramen staff or a Lunar staff may enter Zanaris by opening the door of the shed in Lumbridge swamp, or if they have completed enough of the quest “Fairytale part 2,”They may enter Zanaris by using any fairy rings not in Zanaris to get to Zanaris’ rings. Alternatively, if you have access to the abyssal space, and have completed the lost city quest you may enter Zanaris via the Cosmic rift. Once inside Zanaris, go either northeast (if you came by rings), southwest (if you came by the shed), or follow the winding path to the rings and then head northeast (if you took the abyssal route). Once in Puro-Puro, you can chat with either the Impling by the entrance, or Elnock the gnome to learn how to play Impetuous Impulses. There are many different implings to catch and either loot or trade in, and trying to hunt these flying critters while running through the wheat field maze makes it a very enjoyable activity for some players. This form of hunting is not as fast experience as other forms, but it definitely is the most profitable way to train the hunting skill with the most useful loots (food, seeds, runes, weaponry, etc.).

As of the 2010-02-22 update, players who enter Puro-Puro via wheat fields other than Zanaris will get up to 30 minutes of faster travel through the wheat. (The “Farmer’s Affinity” bonus.) Those who enter Puro-Puro via Zanaris will not get this bonus. The Farmer’s Affinity activates each and every time a player enters a crop circle not located in Zanaris.

[edit] Swamp

Swamp lizards are located southeast of Canifis. They are a good choice for making money until hunters can hunt Carnivourious Chinchompas at level 63 Hunter. As swamp lizards are oftentimes bought, they sell on average for 760-1,873 coins each. The banks in Canifis and Port Phasmatys are the only banks that are fairly close to the lizards. However, they are still a quite effective way of making money nonetheless.

[edit] Lava

There are 2 Lava locations:

  • Red Salamanders are located near the Ourania Cave, which is southwest of West Ardougne, reasonably close to the Khazard Battlefield Spirit Tree.
  • Black salamanders are located in level 20 Wilderness, north of the Varrock lumber yard. The Varrock Balloon transport system location is just south of the lumber yard.

[edit] Falconer Note: World map label is Falconer and the Hunter activity, Falconry

The Falconer area is east of the Woodland Training Area near Piscatoris. The area is where Falconry is used to catch Spotted kebbits, Dark kebbits and Dashing kebbits. From the Fairy ring AKQ teleport location, walk east. The fenced Falconry area has its entrance on the northern side of the fence. The fee for using a falcon is 500 coins; a player cannot take falcons outside this area. Players may not wield a weapon or gloves, so it may be worth banking these.

[edit] Karamja

The Horned Graahks are north of Cairn Isle, on the west coast of Karamja. It is very close to the Fairy ring teleport location with access code CKR. They can be hunted for Graahk fur, which is used in the creation of Spirit graahk pouches.

[edit] Isafdar

There are several hunter locations to be found in Isafdar. Two of these are southwest of Lletya and east of Tyras Camp, respectively. Pawyas and Grenwalls can be hunted in this area.

[edit] Hunting Styles

There are several methods that a Hunter can use to catch prey. More advanced hunting styles are only available to more experienced hunters. They are described in more detail in the sections below.

Level Method 1 Tracking 1 Bird Snaring 15 Butterfly Netting 23 Deadfall Trapping 27 Box trapping (ferrets) 27 Rabbit Snaring 29 Net Trapping 31 Pitfall Trapping 43 Falconry 53 Box Trapping 71 Magical Imp Boxes

It is possible to set more than one Bird snare, Rabbit snare, Box trap, Magic box, Net Trap, or Pit-fall trap. The number of such simultaneous traps increases with skill level. Hunters can only place a single Deadfall trap. With a recent update, players can now also catch butterflies with their bare hands if they have the right agility level.

Level Number of concurrent traps 1 1 20 2 40 3 60 4 80 5 [edit] Tracking Level 1+

Tracking requires a noosing wand which can be purchased from the hunter shops for about 4 coins.

Some Kebbits live in burrows. To hunt them, search their burrows to find some tracks, which will lead away from the burrows. Search the nearby bushes, snow drifts, logs, tunnels, etc., until you discover more tracks. At the end of the track, which can extend for 4-5 searches, you will receive a message suggesting that a Kebbit is inside the object. Right-click ‘Attack’ while wielding a noosing wand to receive loot and experience.

Each player follows a unique track and does not compete with other players to get kebbits.

Catching a Kebbit gives the player Bones, raw beast meat, and kebbit fur. The hides obtained from Kebbit Tracking can be used to make Camouflage costumes. All camouflage outfits can be put in the armour case in the costume room. You can also use polar kebbit fur for summoning.

Using bird snares, available from the hunter shops for about 6 coins, you can trap birds. After setting up a trap, if a bird flies over and attempts to perch on top of it, it may catch the bird. If it fails to catch the bird, or if the trap falls over by itself (it will after a set amount of time), the trap will have to be dismantled and set up again; or, you can just right-click ‘Lay bird snare’ to reset the trap. You receive experience when taking the ensnared bird from the trap. You also get bones, raw bird meat, and coloured feathers.

At Level 39 Hunter, a player is able to smoke a trap. Smoking traps removes a player’s scent and increases the chance of snaring a bird. Torches are available at hunter shops and can be lit with a Tinderbox.

A player needs to set the snare where the birds will fly over it and wait for one to come. Only one snare can be placed on one tile, so players compete with each other to get a spot. Generally, there is not much competition at bird hunting areas, even higher levelled ones. A higher hunter skill level gives a better bird catch rate. Players who are not patient might wish to combine bird snaring with the more active Kebbit Tracking. It should be noted that the traps should not be left unattended, as they may fall over and become dropped items visible to other players a short period after falling over. The easiest way to check for fallen snares is to monitor your game messages, which tell you when a snare falls over in the wind.

A player wielding a butterfly net and carrying a butterfly jar may catch a butterfly by clicking on it. In fact, with a horizontal camera angle, players may click on the space below the butterfly; this may be easier as the butterflies are quite small. A butterfly can be netted by only one player, the one who started first. The butterfly may be released from the jar immediately, allowing you to hunt another. They yield low experience, and are best combined with some form of trapping. Although players can’t move while releasing a butterfly, they can perform other actions at the same time, such as laying a box trap. Butterflies have a more practical use than just gaining experience; they can be released on other players in multiple combat areas to enhance the Melee Combat Skills Attack, Strength, Defence, or Constitution.

Level Image Creature Location Experience Effect 15 Ruby Harvest Woodland 24 Raises Attack 25 Sapphire Glacialis Snow 34 Raises Defence 35 Snowy Knight Snow 44 Restores Life points 45 Black Warlock Jungle 54 Raises Strength [edit] Barehanded Butterfly Catching

With high Hunter and Agility levels, butterflies can be caught without a butterfly jar or butterfly net. While this rewards you with significantly higher Hunter experience, as well as some Agility experience, the butterfly is released immediately afterwards and cannot be kept for personal use.

Hunter Level Agility Level Image Creature Location Hunter Experience Agility Experience 80 75 Ruby Harvest Woodland 300 50 85 80 Sapphire Glacialis Snow 400 70 90 85 Snowy Knight Snow 500 100 95 90 Black Warlock Jungle 650 125

Barehanded butterfly catching presents players a choice of power training their hunter while gaining no profit. Catching Ruby Harvests with bare hands, a player can receive up to 72-105k Hunter experience and 12-17.5k Agility experience per hour depending on the player’s hunter level. Snowy Knight’s are the fastest hunter experience per hour of the butterflies, ranging from 110K-140K.

[edit] Impling Netting Level 17+

Impling netting is quite similar to butterfly netting. However, players are hunting implings and therefore require a jar treated with impling repellent. The repellent is made by crushing 8 cooked anchovies with a pestle and mortar, pouring them into a vial through a sieve, mixing it with flowers such as Rosemary or Marigold, then refining it at the Rimmington lamp oil distillery.

See Impetuous Impulses. [edit] Barehanded Impling Catching

With the Impetuous Impulses improvement on 22 February 2010, it is possible to catch implings found in Gielinor barehanded so long as the player has the required hunter level. The player will be awarded more experience points and will loot the impling directly. High agility gives the player a higher chance of success of catching the impling. This cannot be done within Puro-Puro.

[edit] Deadfall Trapping Level 23+

Some Kebbits need to be trapped using a deadfall trap. You will need a knife and a log in your inventory, and you will need to set up a trap in the appropriate, specified locations (click around the boulders). These seem to be excellent experience, and taking a hatchet with you to the locations is recommended.

Baiting a deadfall trap does increase the chances of catching prey drastically. The bait is not returned to the inventory after catching an animal. Other ways to increase success rate are wearing the appropriate hunting attire and smoking the deadfall trap with a Torch (requires a Hunter level of 39). It is also recommended to take a Beaver familiar or a Beast of Burden to reduce the number of trips you have to take. A Beaver familiar will produce logs or planks at random.

[edit] Box Trapping Level 53+ (27+ after completing Eagles’ Peak quest or with 10+ Summoning)

Similar to bird snaring, box-trapping involves laying a box trap on the ground and waiting for your prey to come. After a certain period of time, the box trap will collapse, requiring the player to pick it back up or lay it again. Experience is only gained after the player retrieves the trapped animal or monster.

Box traps can be baited or smoked, both of which increases the rates of success for catching chinchompas (although most players report the rate is not significant). Normal chinchompas like spicy chopped tomatoes, while red chinchompas prefer spicy minced meat. The bait for Ferrets is raw meat. The bait disappears after a successful trap. When using four box traps, a Hunter has just enough time to set all the traps.

The trapped ferrets appear in your inventory. They can be used while Rabbit Snaring. Left clicking the ferret in the inventory will release the trapped animal. Trapped Chinchompas are stackable and can be used as a multi-target ranged weapon.

Hunting red chinchompas yields about 20k experience per hour at 63 Hunter. At 80 Hunter, red chinchompas give about 50k-70k experience per hour. At 95 Hunter red chinchompas will give constant 80k-100k experience per hour as well as making a fair amount of money. At 95 Hunter accompanied by the Arctic Bear (71 Summoning; invisible +7 Hunter level boost) some players have been able to catch upwards of 450 Red Chinchompas per hour consistently, which is 120k+ xp per hour. Red chinchompas sell for quite a bit (currently 569 coins each) as well as being stackable, which is a great time saver since it does not need to be banked.

[edit] Rabbit Snaring Level 27+

As a reward from the Eagles’ Peak quest, hunters can use a Rabbit snare to catch Rabbits. Also bring box traps to capture ferrets to chase rabbits from their burrows.

Rabbits can be found in the far south part of the Woodland hunter area. Six rabbit holes are arranged in a circle pattern. Ferrets are just south of the rabbit holes.

To be able to catch Rabbits, a hunter needs as many Rabbit snares as the Hunter level permits. Perhaps a little more as Rabbit snares disappear quite rapidly. Bring about 3 or 4 box traps for the ferrets to capture 3 or 4 ferrets.

Place a Rabbit snare in front of the rabbit holes. Then left click a Rabbit hole (Flush Rabbit hole) and a ferret will chase the Rabbits out another rabbit hole which can then be caught in a Rabbit snare.

Messages: You place a ferret down the rabbit hole. A second later, a rabbit runs out from the other side of the warren. A ferret can be used several times until it runs away: There is no sign of your ferret. It seems to have run away. No ferret: I’m too big to get in there to scare the rabbits out myself. When trapped: You’ve caught a white rabbit.

From the snare a hunter obtains Bones, Raw rabbit meat and a Rabbit foot. A campfire is available to cook the raw rabbit.

Stringing a Rabbit foot gives 4 Crafting experience. The Strung Rabbit foot provides a small increase in probability to get a Bird’s nest drop if it is worn during Woodcutting.

Net trapping is used to trap lizards, salamanders, and squirrels . With a rope and small fishing net in the inventory, clicking on a young tree will set the trap. When the lizard or salamander passes, it may be caught. Bait may increase the catch rate for lizards and salamanders and is made by using the herb with 15 swamp tar and a pestle and mortar. If you do not use bait for a trapping squirrels, they will only trip the trap and you will not catch one. If your Summoning level is 60, you can drop the squirrel and it will remain as a pet.

Pit-fall hunting involves building a pit, using logs and a knife in special spots in the Jungle, near Cairn Isle and Trollweiss Hunting Area. Build the pit-fall trap, then tease the relevant monster with a teasing stick. Now run back to the pit and jump over it. The creature will often jump over the pit and attack you. Unlike most other hunted creatures, pitfall trapping creatures will do damage, so food may be a good idea. Some may prefer to bring a bird snare, iron spit, and tinderbox as well as the pitfall trapping items to catch birds, and cook the bird meat for food instead of bringing food of their own. Since creatures will not jump the same pit twice in a row, you must move to another nearby hot-spot to build another pit-fall and try again. The pit-fall trap will collapse after a certain amount of time. You collect furs when emptying the trap, which can be made into hunter gear in the Varrock fancy-dress shop. You can buy them from the Grand Exchange for a fine price, too. The furs may be tattered or “perfect”; tattered furs are only suitable for bodies or legs, but perfect furs are suitable for headpieces, bodies and legs. One receives perfect fur approximately one-fourth of the time. It takes 3 furs plus coins to make a set. Alternatively, you may sell the furs in Ardougne or on the Grand Exchange to other players who wish to use them to train Summoning.

At the northern part of the Falconer area, hunters can borrow a Gyr Falcon and a Falconer’s glove from the falcon expert Matthias for a fee of 500 coins. Random events can result in loss of the Falcon and Glove, so additional coins might be useful. Both hands must be free for falconry (weapons, shield and gloves). With a falcon, players can hunt for Spotted kebbits, Dark kebbits and Dashing kebbits. During the flight of the falcon, the kebbit may move resulting in a miss after which the falcon will return to the glove of the hunter. During the falcon flight, hunters cannot move. When the falcon catches the kebbit, the hunter needs to retrieve both the falcon and the drops. A yellow arrow marks the location of the falcon with its catch. If the falcon is not retrieved within a short time, the player will get this message, “Your falcon has left its prey. You see it heading back toward the falconer.” A player can talk with the falcon expert Matthias to get the falcon back without cost; however, no experience is given as the prey has gone and it takes extra time.

The kebbits have a relatively fast respawn, which gives impressive training speed. However, competition from other falcon hunters can substantially reduce speed and adversely impact training. Although the success rate is supposedly not affected by proximity, running up to the target before catching it may improve success rate. This is because success is strongly affected by whether or not the target is moving. Falcons travel at a definitive speed, so if it is further away then it is harder to predict when the target will be moving or not. Another reason is that if it fails, it takes much less time to return to the hunter which can seriously affect training time. Of course, the success rate is also based on the player’s Hunter level.

A good method to try is to stick with a single kebbit; this way, a player can identify the kebbit is spawn point, and stand one square away. Now, when the kebbit spawns, instantly click to catch it before it runs away. The player now does not have to move to retrieve the falcon and can stay in the same spot and train reasonably quickly.

The hides from the kebbits can be converted into fancy clothing items in the Varrock fancy clothing store. Level 40 Hunter is able to make all 3 sets. However, a higher level is required for wearing some of the clothing. With the Boots of lightness coupled with the Spottier cape and Penance gloves players can reduce their weight by 10–13 kg.

Hide Level to wear Clothing item Cost: 2 furs + Effect Spotted fur 40 Spotted cape 400 reduces weight of wearer by 2.5 kg. Dark fur 54 Gloves of silence 600 increased success during thieving Dashing kebbit fur 66 Spottier Cape 800 reduces weight of wearer by 4.5 kg

A level 60 hunter can expect to catch 20 Dark Kebbits in approximately 4 minutes, targeting a single respawn location. Using multiple respawns is possible but leaves almost no time to drop the bones and furs. The time to drop all items yields adds a further 20 seconds; hence, the average experience per hour is around 35,000.

[edit] Magical Imp Boxes Level 71+

Place a magic box trap where imps are found:

  • Edgeville, south
  • Falador, south and west
  • Karamja
  • Lumbridge
  • Varrock
  • Yanille
  • On the path between Lumbridge and Draynor
  • The exit at the Soul Wars activity.

In addition, beads from killing imps (Imp Catcher quest) may be used for bait. Beads may be taken by the imp without getting trapped requiring the trap to be reset.

Level Image Creature Location Bait Exp 71 Imp Worldwide Magical bead 450

Boxed imps can take 1-2 items from the inventory to the bank in exchange for being released. Imps will not bank for you once you are past level 30 Wilderness. Players can have more than 1 boxed imp.

[edit] Creatures [edit] Eagle transport system

After completing the Eagle’s Peak quest, a player has access to use the eagle transport system from Eagles’ Peak to the other 3 Hunter training areas – snow, jungle, and desert. After completing Back to my Roots you will have access to a new eagle.

[edit] Temporary Boosts

  • Hunter potions require level 53 Herblore to make using Avantoe and Kebbit teeth dust (from Sabre-tooth kebbit) for 120 Herblore experience; they temporarily raise the player’s Hunter level by 3.
  • Yellow Spicy stews can alter your level by up to +6, but also to -6. There is only a 1/60 chance of receiving a +6 bonus, whilst a 1/20 chance of a +5 bonus.
  • Using the Mud Bath in Oo’glog after completing As a First Resort will give you a +7 temporary Hunter boost. At level 50, it will increase it by 8 levels. The Mud Bath also eliminates your scent, saving you from using a torch.

The following boosts do not affect what you can catch. They only affect the rate at which you catch.

  • The spirit graahk, spirit kyatt and spirit larupia familiars (57 Summoning) all provide an invisible +5 to your Hunter level.
  • The Arctic bear familiar (71 Summoning) gives an invisible +7 boost to your Hunter level.
  • The Wolpertinger familiar (92 Summoning) gives an invisible +5 to your Hunter level.
  • Operating the Hunter skillcape will temporarily boost the hunter’s level to 100.

[edit] Hunter items used in other skills

There are a number of items that only can be obtained by meaning of hunting:

  • Red chinchompas are popular for power training ranged in multi-target areas, often with prayer protection.
  • Chinchompas are a less powerful alternative for multi-target ranged training. Also used to make a Giant chinchompa pouch.
  • Larupia fur is used to make Spirit larupia pouches. The summoned familiar has a teleport that is close to Feldip Hills for more hunting.
  • Kyatt fur is used to make Spirit Kyatt pouches. These are often used to train Summoning faster by teleporting to close to Piscatoris for the Summoning altar there.
  • Graahk fur is used to make Spirit graahk pouches. The summoned familiar has a teleport that is very close to the Nature altar and allows very fast runecrafting of Nature runes.
  • Polar kebbit fur is required to make the Arctic bear pouch. This is the highest level pouch that can be made from a Gold charm.
  • Ruby harvests are used in Summoning to make a Forge regent pouch.
  • Swamp lizards are used to make Swamp titan pouches with level 85 summoning and a Crimson charm.
  • Grenwall spikes are used to make Extreme Ranging Potions with level 92 herblore and a ranging potion(3)

[edit] Cape of Achievement

For players with level 99 Hunter, a Hunter cape can be bought from the Hunting expert in the Jungle Training Area. The cape will cost 99,000 coins, like all other Capes of Achievement.

[edit] Trivia

  • The Hunter skillcape emote resembles the board game ‘Mouse Trap’.
  • While doing Falconry, if you pick up your falcon or bury a bone, your glove will temporarily disappear.
  • The falconer mentions that some noblemen consider falconry a suitably refined sport for them. Hunting and falconry in particular was indeed an extremely popular sport among European nobility during the Middle Ages.
  • On 1 April 2009 (April Fools’ Day), “Seagulls have now been added to the Hunter skill and can be found along some coastlines. You’ll need to wave your butterfly net in a gullible fashion to catch these birds”, was added to the patch notes. This resulted in a team of players searching for gulls to catch, only to realise how gullible they had been.
  • The Hunter emote was leaked by a J-Mod before anybody had even got to 99.
  • Although one section in The Fremminik Trials Quest is known as the Hunter trial, it is more similar to Slayer.

[edit] Main Page Changes

On the day of the skill’s release, the two rock pillars on each side of the RuneScape main page were replaced with totem poles, on which were drawings of imps, lizards, and razorbacked kebbits. A few pawprints were also scattered around the tiled background.

[edit] Login Screen Changes

The login screen was changed as well. A piece of graahk fur was hung on each side of the screen, and a pair of orange salamanders clung onto the pillars. A box trap appeared below the login box, while a butterfly was placed on the top-left corner of the login box. A patch of grass grew on the bottom of the screen, parting at the middle. The burning rune symbols were replaced with pawprints, dinosaurs, kebbits, and butterflies. It has now been changed back to its normal screen. There was a supposed hidden monster.

[edit] In-game changes

A cave was placed in three of the hunting grounds, where those who have completed the Eagle’s Peak quest may fly to and from the Eagle’s Peak mountain.

Though unconfirmed, the rate at which random events occur seems to increase while hunting (especially at the red chinchompa spots located south of Yanille.)

[edit] Money

Most hunters who continue hunting to level 99 (who are not power training) end up with 27,195,924 coins from selling about 47,796 Red chinchompas whilst progressing from level 63 to level 99, selling the red chinchompas at market price. However, Hunter is still a very profitable skill and it is possible to make money using various other Hunter training methods.

Best College Majors To Make Money Massapequa NY

The top money making majors vary every year. These majors though most of the times are the hardest to complete, are usually the most rewarding at the end. I just looked up these statistics because I was curious about my major which is economics. Here I will compile a list of the top college majors to make money; I will then list the types of jobs you can get with that major.

1.)Any type of engineering. This includes Chemical Engineering ($55,900), Electrical Engineering ($52,899), Mechanical Engineering ($50,672), and civil engineering ($45,000). These majors are usually the hardest to complete due to massive homework and projects. They require a lot of mathematical skills which I don’t possess, and many other people don’t. It is not for everybody. The amounts of jobs you can acquire with this are pretty absurd. The employment growth for the majority of engineering jobs is moving at a pace faster than most occupations. The jobs for these majors include: Designing anything from bridges to skyscrapers, to creating medical advancements and much, much more, just google it.

2.)Computer Science ($50,046) With the endless growth potential of computers and the internet, computer science skills are very important, and because of this, people who have skills in this are paid very well. Believe me when I say, I’ve tried to program on my website and it is pretty impossible for an average joe like me. I tried to outsource some of my work but it would cost a ton. The work load is a ton for this major, but if you are a fan of computers and believe in the future growth of computers and the internet, then this major is for you. Jobs for this major include: Database manager, Systems analyst, Applications programmer, Computer programmer.

3.)Accounting ($45,723) If you like numbers, this is for you. As for me, I like numbers, but only on my pay checks. This major can be EXTREMELY boring, but it could be worth it for your post college opportunities. I always assume people are lazy, and people will remain lazy and don’t have the knowledge to do their taxes, accountants will always be in great demand. This job has after than average growth. These jobs include: Management accountants, Government accountants, Public accountants, Auditors

4.)Economics/Finance($45,200) Finally, we get to my major Economics. Let me tell you about Econ. It can be fun, I mean if you are a complete loser like me. With economics you can analyze anything from tacos with computers to clowns and dynamite. It can be very interesting. But on the other hand, with the wrong professor you can have an awfully boring time. If you have an interest in this major, I recommend reading the book “Freakonomics”. This book really opened up my mind to economics. Job growth is very strong for finance and economics. These jobs include: Economists in government, business, academic fields.

More majors you can choose: Business Administration $40,000, Marketing $37,500, and Liberal Arts at roughly $31,000

What jobs do Botany majors get after college?

Ok folks, here’s some more food for thought. First, I think there isn’t a consensus of what we are all really discussing here. I see several trains of thought going on here, but I think we can boil it down to two questions: Are there botany jobs available? Do they pay enough to be worth doing?

The short answer to the first question is Yes. To short answer the second question is Maybe, it depends on you’re feelings about the income level compared to the amount of education required.

Going back to job availability, here’s a few statistics. The breakdown for where botanists work is something like 10% in private industries, 40% work for the government and the other 50% work in higher education.

Some private industries that hire botanists: Drug, chemical, food, lumber and paper companies as well as the oil industry. Genetic research industry jobs are primed for considerable growth.

Some government jobs that hire botanists: The USDA, Department of the Interior/Forest Service, the State Department, the EPA and NASA.

Education jobs run the entire range from high school to community college to university. University County Extension offices hire botanists. Also every botranical garden you’ve ever seen.

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics state that demand for botanists is expected to be increase faster than average.

OK, on to the money: The average annual salary for botanists in private industry is about $35,000 and for those federally employed it is about $42,000. Income for teachers ranges widely from a low of about $24,000 for HS or community college instructors all the way to $90,000 for some Ivy League university professors. Most full professor positions at univerisites seem to top out somewhere around $70,000. It does take a long time to earn your way into such a position too I’m sure.

I’ve seen several recommendations that people interested in botany would be better served by becoming a lawyer, doctor or engineer. The idea is that you will get rich at these other jobs and then you can throw that money around on your own private gardening interests. I believe that this is generally a poor idea. Fine, doctors do make a lot of money. They also spend ungodly amounts of money just getting their degree. Not to mention the amount they spend on malpractice insurance after they get to work. I also believe that most people, but particularly doctors, should be in that line of work because it is their passion. I don’t want my health care handled by a man or woman whose primary interest was grabbing some cash. Being a lawyer is no picnic either. A professor of mine graduated from Harvard law school and was raking in plenty of cash. Whats wrong with that? He had ZERO free time – Spare suit at the office, didn’t know his kids, etc. He quit and never looked back and now happily teaches film school. As for engineering I can speak to that with some personal experience. First, if you don’t take naturally to math and numbers you will have your work cut out for you. If you had any difficulties with HS algebra you will probably suffer when you dig into calc/diff eq, statics/dynamics and materials classes. There are good reasons that engineering degrees are so highly rewarded and in such high demand. They are crucial jobs to modern society yet most people can’t or won’t do them. It really is that simple. Engineering is also, in my opinion, a job that should be done by those who have a passion for it, not just to rake in some dough. As for the money, the real golden opportunities come mostly to those with Master’s or PhD degrees. A bachelors isn’t even going to get you in the door in many big industry’s departments. If you are pursuing those degrees against your natural talents you may literally drive yourself crazy. Most people have no real idea how difficult engineering cirriculum is.

I hope that helped give another perspective.

Tips on How to Make Money Fast on Runescape!

Ever wondered how members of RuneScape make so much money so quickly? Well, I was one of those members who made 40m in just one week! Now I would love to share my story with you in hopes that you too will become rich on RuneScape!

First, you must be a member in order to enjoy this guide. Those of you who are not members will not benefit any from this excellent guide! However, if you are a member of RuneScape, then please read along and discover the secret to becoming rich fast!

The way I made my millions was through the use of the Hunter skill. The first thing you need to do is train your Hunter skill to at least level 66 (80+ preferably) to make good use of my methods. I would recommend training below Feldip Hills until you can catch Green Lizards in Mort Myre. Once you have the level necessary to catch Orange Salamanders, catch them in the Desert until you are able to catch Red Salamanders near the ZMI Altar. Red Salamanders are the fastest way to get to level 80, but if you are looking to make a little profit while getting to 80, you may choose to catch Red Chinchompas instead.

Once you are level 80 (83 is best), the time has come to employ my method of becoming rich! The way you will capitalize on this skill is by imp hunting in Puro Puro through the Impetuous Impulses mini-game. Level 83 allows to catch the elusive Dragon Impling (level 80 with a Hunting potion). All you need is a magic butterfly net, impling jars, and ideally level 50 Magic to cast a bind spell.

Once you have acquired the necessary skills and gear, go to Zanaris and walk to the bank to the east. Withdraw plenty of runes to cast many bind spells (100+) and fill the rest of your inventory with impling jars (leave a couple slots empty in case you catch the wrong impling – and you will occasionally). Be sure to wear lightweight clothing (penance gloves, boots of lightness, spottier cape, etc.) so you can run and catch the implings. The implings you will focus on catching are Magpie, Ninja and Dragon. The other implings are a waste of time and effort so don’t even bother with them.

WoW Gold Making: 101

There are five basic ways people make money in the world of warcraft:

1) Gather Leather/Herbs/Ore/Fish – supplies

2) Farm for loot/gear

3) The Crafter

4) Buy low/sell High

5) Control the market

PLEASE NOTE: This is a basic guide, it can get you starting making gold much easier, with less confusion. If you are serious about expanding your knowledge in this area, please check out the Luke’s Gold Making Guide ——————————————–

1) The Gatherer

There are many things to be gathered in the game. This includes leather, herbs, ore, fish, linen, wool, mageweave, stones, gems, and so on. Moreover, there is much gold to be made here.

There is something to be said for those that gather – they spend a lot of time making their money. Many players begin to make their money by gathering – and I encourage it. And, later on, finding a rare vein or herb can bring in several gold alone. There isn’t too much to say here but to get the gatherer mod (works wonders) and go to http://www.worldofwar.net/cartography/ and check out the resource maps.

The benefit of being a gatherer is that you don’t ever have to buy supplies. Moreover, you may just find the things to mine/gather while leveling. This is especially true with leather (tradeskill is skinning).

One thing to note – you cannot pass level 225 in your skill until at least level 35.Note #2 – ALWAYS sell your gathered items at the auction house – always. It costs next to nothing to put them up for auction even at 24 hour durations. If they don’t sell, just put them up again.Note #3 ? Constant Buyers ? find them, they are out there. Read on into the crafter section to learn more about constant buyers.

—————————-2) The Farmer

This is a profession usually taken on by those of higher (level 40+, usually 55+) level characters. To do this, you simply do instance runs or kill named bosses multiple times or do multiple runs through the instances in the chance of getting a drop. Before the patch that came out today (this was written the day the honor system came out), this is what almost all level 60 players did (since then, many lvl 60s have taken up pvp ? attacking the crossroads for example ? and then with the battlegrounds patch, they go to the BGs).

Things to note: This takes more time than being a gatherer – and the payoff *may* be higher. The *may* is the 3% chance, or .03% for some items, that an item worth x amount of gold at AH – I repeat AT THE AUCTION HOUSE – will drop (check www.thottbot.com to see the drop rate of items). So, with this type of way to make money, you may make 20g in a day or 200g or 2000g depending on what drops – pure chance. Now, some like this idea for the high potential.

Like I said, always sell the item at the auction house. If you don’t know what it is worth, look at items similar to it and price accordingly. If you still don’t know, put it up for some absurd amount – there’s a chance someone may buy it. I suggest putting what you want as the base price, and an absurd number for the buyout at 24 hour bid time – do this on the weekend as well as more people are on (at least 3x) during the weekends.

Example: The Deviate Scale Belt Recipe is a quest reward from the wailing caverns. My fiancee decided she would sell hers at the auction house. She wasn’t sure what it was worth, so she put it up for 50s base and 6 gold buyout, 24 hour time period. If you don’t know, there’s no way it should be worth more than 1 gold due to the fact that it is an easily obtained quest reward. Guess what – it sold! I guess whoever wanted it didn’t want to wait the 24 hours to get the item (as most don’t) so just bought it out.

Drawbacks: It costs a lot to put those items up for bid. And if it doesn’t sell, you have lost that money.

To compensate for this – first, always sell on Fri/Sat/Sun. Keep the items you get in the bank until the weekend. Also, put the item up around 7pm on Friday evening with a 24 hour bid time if you can. Repeat on Saturday if you still have it. This will ensure the most people see it. Advertising isn’t a bad idea as well – once every 30 minutes (once every 5 ? 10 mins if you are on a high population server). You can do a /2 [item][item][item] at AH. People will click on those boxes to see what they are, just out of curiosity, almost always. To make the [item] that people can click on, shift + click the item when you already are entering text in the chat screen.

Last note – sometimes going for the lower level item may be more profitable than the higher level item. The higher level item will definitely be worth more – but you will be able to do more runs through the lower level area.

—————————————–3) The Crafter

This is one of the players that says forget the gathering, I want to make things. To do this, you better have at least 10 – 20 gold ready to spend. The first 150 skill points into any craft, you will most likely lose money. In fact, I can almost guarantee it. The items below 150 aren’t worth much or in demand enough to make serious cash. This can be said even with items up to level 225. However, past 225, it is pure gold. Be it Leatherworking, Blacksmithing, Alchemy, or Tailoring (note engineering and enchanting are not listed); there is money to be made. Reasons why: Leatherworking – there are three paths. You can only choose one. Someone will want what you can make due to only 1/3 of the people being able to make it.

Blacksmithing – same as leatherworking, but two paths.

Alchemy – getting those high level herbs is no easy task. And now that the honor system is in and potions can’t be dispelled … yeah, permanent buffs will be worth a lot.

Tailoring – bags, bags! Everyone wants a 14 or 16 slot container. Of course, a perk you get is the 18 slot container – bind on pickup sadly. Also, often missed items are shirts.

So, how do these people get their supplies? One of two ways – Either at the auction house or from a supplier. Often times, the crafter will find a gatherer and work a deal with them to constantly have incoming supplies. The gatherer will often times send the item through the mail system with COD, cash on delivery. This works well for both parties. And, sometimes one gatherer can supply several crafters with what they need. The gatherer and crafter also set a standard price for a stack of a certain item ? this never changes once set in most situations. Having a constant buyer/supplier is more important and convenient than getting the most for your copper. I suggest you try to set up a system like this – either if you are a gatherer or crafter.

To contact them, use the mail. Go to AH and see who is selling alot of a gathered item or crafted item, depending on if you want to supply or want to craft. Write down their name. You can try to send them a message, but more often than not, they will not be online. So, just go over to the mail and send them a nice letter. Perhaps a subject of ‘Need a supplier?’ or ‘Can you gather x for me?’ (x being herbs, leather, whatever it is you need) In your letter, basically say you saw them selling a lot of a certain item at AH and you’d like to become a constant buyer. This is VERY attractive to the gatherer as suddenly gathering x item becomes a constant reliable income for gold. It is also VERY attractive to the crafter as they can normally negotiate for it to be cheaper than AH and they have a constant supply to make their items.

The downfall – at level 60, many crafted items become obsolete. Now, this doesn’t mean crafted items won’t sell. Plenty of lvl 59s and down still need those items. But, what it means is that they will never sell as highly or as well as a farmed item – epic items.

The two that cost you more than you make: Enchanting – This really can be a great tradeskill. I made tons of gold with it … by selling what I disenchanted to other enchanters. Rarely, and I mean basically never, will a player be willing to pay as much for an enchant as it cost you to enchant that item. Surely it can’t cost that much – you say

Well, factor in the cost of what you didn’t make. That is, factor in your potential earnings. In order to get enchanting ingredients, a item Uncommon (green) or better must be disenchanted. A blue item can easily go for 10 gold or up depending on your server (some 200 and up). Now, lets say every green and blue item you find and can’t use gets disenchanted – the losses add up pretty quickly. In fact, they add up so quickly that the aspiring enchanter finds it hard to believe. And, what is worse is that you don’t always get the ingredient you need. There is a random chance it can be any number of ingredients. Even worse – to enchant something, it usually takes at least 2 – 3 ingredients. Let’s say you disenchanted 3 blues to get the exact 3 ingredients you needed. If you had sold those blue items, you could have made 15g, assuming worth 5g (yep, a low estimate here). No one in their right mind will pay 15g for an enchant – unless it is a high high, well above 225, level enchant. And, if it is one of those enchants, then those blues certainly could have sold for well more than 5g each. If you want to be an enchanter, find a good guild that will supply you with ‘trash items’ – items they tried to sell at AH and didn’t sell, so they send it to you.

One thing to note: Enchanting has the *potential* to make money through disenchanting. Throw-away green or blue items (ones that are really bad, no one would use) will sometimes disenchant into something worth considerably more at the auction house. Also, you can disenchant any of your old bind on equip or pickup items. Most players have to sell these to the vendor to get a very measly amount for them ? you could disenchant something worth several gold from them.

Engineering – well … sadly … you have to be an engineer to use engineering items. And, if you can use the item, it means you can make the item (except for high levels – goblin/gnomish). Yes, there is some money to be made in engineering, but certainly not as much as the other trades. The main place money can be made is in the items required for quests.

—————————————-4) Buy Low / Sell High

This is getting into the more complex of the ways to make your gold. To be able to buy low/sell high, you will need an initial investment. I suggest at least 10 gold if not 50 – 100 gold. But, 10 gold will get you started.

The strategy is simple – buy an item at a lower price than it is worth or can be sold for, and then turn around and sell it for that higher price.

To do this, many players will watch the trade channel in their main city. They watch for WTS (wanting to sell) [item]. Players selling like this want to sell their item now and not wait for AH – this is the perfect opportunity for the low/high buying player. You simply send them a private message asking how much or by saying I will give you x gold for that item. From there, you negotiate. The idea is that you try to get the item as low as possible. Make sure you always buy lower than it can sell for – this means watching the auction house like a hawk. You have to know what is worth what and how quickly it sells. Supply vs. Demand.

So, now you have your item. Let’s say you were able to buy it for 2g and it can sell at the auction house – ON the weekend – for 10g. You’ve just made 8g. Now, all you have to do is wait until about 7 pm on Friday to put your item up, or any time will do on Friday. Just do the same thing here I suggested for the farmers.

Someone doing this may turn anywhere from 1g – 2000g in a day depending on how much they buy and sell. However, a rough way of figuring it out is that you can only make twice as much as your initial investment. Sometimes you may make less, sometimes more – but never expect any more than twice what you invested.

One last note: If you see an item up for less than it sells for, you know this by watching the market, IMMEDIATELY buy the item without a second thought. If you don’t, someone else will.

—————————————— 5) Controlling the Market

This is by far the most involving way to make money in the world of warcraft. In this, you have to have a monopoly on the market – our example will be large glimmering shards. To start off, you will need a good bit, at least 10g if not 200g, of initial investment.

What you do is identify a market, large glimmering shards for our example, and start to up the price on it.

Let’s say a stack of one large glimmering shard is selling for 90 silver. And, there are 10 shards up at the Auction House. To control this market, what you would do is completely buy out all of the large glimmering shards- every last one of them. Then, you would go back and sell them for any price you decide as you are the only supply for large glimmering shards. Let’s be reasonable and only sell them for 1 gold 80 silver. Now, people are used to them being 90 silver and will not buy them for the first week. Also, you *must* have at least 3 – 5 items up at any given time for the price you have set. If they are not yours but are at 1 gold 80 silver, no problem. If someone puts them up for less, immediately buy them out. After about a week of doing this, people will start to accept that the price of a large glimmering shard is now 1.8g. Also, the people selling the shards will think that they have been selling at 1.8g, so they will put them up for that amount as well. Now, all you have to do is sell off all of your large glimmering shards at 1.8g – you just made twice what you invested.

Now, it may seem that the buy low/ sell high would work better – but, where it differs is that you set the price. Make sure to no more than double it at first. But, once the price is accepted at 90s, then you could do the same thing, this time at 3 gold. All the time, you have more and more large glimmering shards. Sell those, and you have made 3x what you invested in the beginning.

Also, control more than one market. If you only control large glimmering shards, then you will only sell at a certain rate. Instead, control several markets. It can be anything – fish, herbs, items … You could even decide to control the market for items level 30 – 40. That is, you buyout every item within that level range and then double the price. The people that level will need items, and they will have to buy from you.

Two things to note: First – other people will see the rise in price in that market and decide to start selling the item as well. If too many people do this, which ALWAYS happens, abandon the market – sell what you have left for more than you bought it for and be done with it. A way to identify if there is too much supply is if there are 20+ of that same item at the auction house. So, you will be controlling a market for roughly 2 – 3 weeks before you move on to another market due to increase in supply.

Secondly – people will NOT like you for doing this. In America (in the corporate world), this is considered illegal. You ARE monopolizing a market and giving people no choice but to buy from you. You WILL get a negative reputation if you do this long enough – especially if you stay in a market for too long. So, you may not necessarily do this with your main character.

One Last Thing – this method eats up a lot of time. You will have to check the auction house at least twice a day to make sure everything is fine and at your price. You may end up doing this over leveling even. So, only go for this method if you want a challenge. Remember, you cannot just buyout all of a market and expect the worth to change in one day – it takes at least a week of monitoring.

A note to those trying to fight the monopolizers – if they are doing it correctly, you can’t beat them by selling for less. Instead, sell for more. If the price of an item goes too high, then the market will crash. Suddenly, the prices will be within reason again. You can force this by having a base price at a price you think it should be and a buyout higher than what the monopolizer is selling for. This way, someone gets the item for the right price OR the monopolizer must buy the item at a loss. There you go; there is your ammo for fighting the fight. Monopolizers – easy way to beat this is? (can’t tell you, trade secret).
