Author I dont know if anyone else mentioned this or if it really is that useful but I always like to roll around with a good amount of cash in games.
I’m not that far into RDR but i found that by far the easiest ways to make money so far is two mini games
first is five finger fillet:
when you get the the last round, you can bet up to $100. Now it is appropriately difficult to win but I found that it’s actually really easy if you don’t look at the screen. The final round follows the order of X,O,X,/\,X,[],X,O,X,/\ and repeats. I just look at the controller and do this in rythm and have pretty much %100 success rate. I would recommend practicing with smaller bets since it’s easier and move up to $100. Once you get it, you can just keep repeating the mini game to earn $100 a pop.
Another way that’s even better is Liar’s Dice in Thief’s Landing.
normally the bets are only $20 but if you go get the “Lights, Camera, Action” quest from the movie place in Armadillo, you are tasked with winning the deed off of some dude at this game in Thief’s Landing and it becomes high stakes gambling at $200 betting. Whats even better is that there are two other people playing so you make $400 per win. I got like $4000 in 10 minutes doing this. The game itself is fairly easy. Besides, even if you have a %50 win record, you still make money because you get $400 for winning and only lose $200 for losing.
